What Is Debt Consolidation?
Debt Consolidation is a program which lets you to combine most unsecured debt such as: credit card bills, personal loans, medical bills, student loans, and out-standing utility bills into one, convenient low, monthly payment. This is not a loan, and because this is not a loan, it does not require collateral, such as: a house, property, or credit checks.
A debt consolidation program helps you pay off your debt more quickly by:
Reducing or eliminate current interest rates
Eliminate late and over limit fees
Eliminate collection calls
Payment dispersed directly to creditors
Ability to pay off debt quickly and economically

How long can negative information remain in my file?
Generally seven years, with certain exceptions: bankruptcy information can be reported for 10 years; information reported because of an application for a job with a salary of more than $20,000 has no time limit; information reported because of an application for more than $50,000 worth of credit or life insurance has no time limit; information concerning a lawsuit or a judgment against you can be reported for seven years or until the statute of limitations runs out, whichever is longer.

About Bankruptcy
The decision to file bankruptcy is one that must be thought out thoroughly. The lasting negative effects can limit financial options and the ability to obtain future credit. Bankruptcy often carries long term derogatory affects on credit and financial management and understanding. There are different types of bankruptcy, each having it's own guidelines and limitations.
